The Roccaccia was built in 1080 A.D. as a watch tower to defend the Marca Fermana. Situated in an enchanting setting between the Monte Sibilla, the Gola dell’Infernaccio and the medieval village of Montefortino, it rises on a spur of rock from which it dominates the surrounding valley.
Today La Roccaccia is a jewel set in the center of the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains, designed for those seeking peace, relaxation and meditation. The park that branches off around the structure is enriched with artistic creations that refer to the Land Art, inside there is a private amphitheater where you can enjoy unique sunsets.
La Roccaccia is divided into two apartments: L’Infernaccio, located on the ground floor and able to accommodate 2+2 people, and La Sibilla, located on the first floor where 5 guests can stay. The entire structure has max capacity of 9 guests.
Near Montefortino there are many architectural and natural sites to discover, first of all the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Ambro, an ancient Marian place of worship among the most important in the Marche Region. Many trails that are lost among the gentle peaks of the National Park of Monti Sibillini depart in places near the Roccaccia. One of the trekking that we highly recommend for charm and beauty is that of the Gole dell’Infernaccio, the starting point of the trail is about 3 km from the property.
The Gole dell’Infernaccio are natural gorges dug over hundreds of thousands of years by the River Tenna between Monte Priora and the Sibilla, a simple walk accessible to children allows in about an hour to get to the hermitage of San Leonardo.
You will be surrounded by landscapes of indescribable beauty, lands rich in history and charm, La Roccaccia will be one of those places that the only thought will evoke in you a happy memory.
